Gorilla Glass 4 now tougher and more resistant at just 0.4 mm thickness

Almost every good smartphone now comes with Gorilla Glass manufactured by Corning and today they have unveiled the new generation which is Gorilla Glass 4 with improved resistance against scratch and damage.

Every smartphone owner is worried about the screen of phone if it falls down but with Gorilla Glass 4 being more tougher as it survives 80 % of drops from 1 meter on a rough surface i.e. concrete floor and the real world of jagged streets, sidewalks and parking lots.It is also tougher than previous generation Gorilla Glass 3 but with reduction of 40% thickness as it is more tougher at 0.4mm compared to 0.7mm thick Gorilla Glass 3.

This difference is huge as the owners will be able to produce slim phones and at the same time trim down weight and increase the user experience with less distance between display and glass.

Already samples are with manufacturers and we can start seeing devices with Gorilla Glass 4 early next year possibly at MWC 2015.
